Our Mission – Why we Exist as a Church

The Great Commission

“All authority in Heaven and Earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

  • Our Mission: “To make DISCIPLES for Jesus Christ.”

What is a Disciple?

The term “Disciple” is both the identity and purpose of every Christian.

  • A Disciple is SOMEONE we are called to be but also SOMETHING we are called to do.

  • A Disciple exhibits characteristics both in WHO they are and WHAT they do in life.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself. For all the Law and the Prophets hang upon these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-39

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All people will know you are my disciples if you love another.” John 13:34-35

Our Vision – Where we are Going as a Church

The Great Strategy

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

  • Our Vision: “To make DISCIPLES for Jesus Christ locally, regionally, nationally, internationally.”

  • How are we to fulfill the Vision? Through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

  • Where are we to fulfill the Vision? LOCALLY, REGIONALLY, NATIONALLY, & INTERNATIONALLY.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace about to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: ‘He has scattered abroad His gifts to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.’ Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, we will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the Gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:6-15

“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be it poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A person reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:7-8
