What is a Disciple?

 

The term “Disciple” is both the identity and purpose of every Christian.  

 

• A Disciple is SOMEONE we are called to be but also SOMETHING we are called to do.

 

• A Disciple exhibits characteristics both in WHO they are and WHAT they do in life.  

 

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself. For all the Law and the Prophets hang upon these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-39

 

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All people will know you are my disciples if you love another.” John 13:34-35

• Our Vision: “To make DISCIPLES for Jesus Christ locally, regionally, nationally, internationally.”

 

• How are we to fulfill the Vision? Through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

 

• Where are we to fulfill the Vision? LOCALLY, REGIONALLY, NATIONALLY, & INTERNATIONALLY.

 

 

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace about to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: ‘He has scattered abroad His gifts to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.’ Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
